Dentist Brain Candy

The podcast is designed for the dentist who likes to learn and improve their practice. The information and content delivered is designed to help the restorative dentist move their practice forward. Each week we start off with an quote that gets the metal gears turning, a book review which will be digested for the listener over a series of episodes pulling out relevant material and applying it to the dental practice. Next an article will be reviewed from the literature and available for download. The show will close with an interesting case that I have come across. Pictures and radiographs, when appropriate will be on the website to review as well. The benefits include having a virtual dental buddy that you can listen to and “hang out with” and talk shop and grow your experience, knowledge and enthusiasm for our profession.

This week starts off with a quote by Teddy Roosevelt and is sassy.   The third installment of Money:Master the Game by Tony Robbins is created and ready for consumption.  I was shocked to learn that vaping can lead to an explosion in your mouth blasting out teeth and leading to a serious injury and I pull a very interesting article from the literature to review this case report.  I then follow up with a interesting case of a young man that fell on the stairs and had another large kid fall on him to finish off his maxillary incisors in a mixed dentition stage, fooling the radiologist on the extent of the injury.

This week starts off with two more awesome quotes by Anthony Robbins.  In this episode we will dig into part two our our book review Money:Master the Game.  It is not how much you make but how much you save and invest that will set you free.  The review article goes over five ways of removing dental implants and discusses the decision tree and applications and the pros and cons of each method.  The interesting case shows radiographs and intraoperative pictures removing tooth number 28 and an OKT.

The book review begins fresh with Tony Robbins, Money:Master the Game (did you know Tony is 6 foot 7 inches!).  This book will change your perception of money and allow you to become financially free so that you can work because you want to not because you have to.  The article review discusses the current uses of CBCT in academia and private practice.  Fun facts about these scanners and useful information about accreditation is also available.  The interesting case shows how a 9 year old boy can acquire a large tongue mass that needed to be cut off and was diagnosed as a traumatic granuloma.  Enjoy!

This week starts off with two killer quotes by Anthony Robbins.  Next week we will start a new book by Tony so i thought it would be fitting to hear from him today to warm us up to his way of thinking.  The final installment of Crucial Conversations will not disappoint and finish this book.  Telemedicine or remote consults using the internet is used widely in medicine but not much in dentistry and Oral Surgery.  This article goes over the definition of Telemedicine, the benefits and the barriers to entry and costs involved with getting started with Telemedicine.  The interesting case is the All On Four in the maxilla with some great radiographics on the website in the interesting cases section.
